Sunrise and Sunset

Bull Elk at Sunrise in Canada

Just to get away from eagles for a moment.  My massive editing job on all the eagle images from last week is moving along but I still have quite a bit more work to do getting through the 15000 photos.  I love photographing at sunrise and sunset. The colorful skies you get at can make for absolutely magical wildlife images.  I’m always on the lookout for a great subject against the colorful sky.  Be sure to be ready at least 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset because sometimes you get the best color then.

If you have to, get down low on the ground to include the most colorful portion of the sky in your compostion.

Expose for the sky to give it the maximum color and impact and let your subject become a silhouette
