Artist’s Statement
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to wild places — to the quiet moments before dawn, the first call of a distant elk, the soft breath of light breaking across the landscape. Nature has always been my muse, my classroom, and my greatest source of inspiration.
Through photography, I strive to capture not just what I see, but what I feel in those fleeting encounters with the natural world — the emotion, energy, and essence of wild places and the creatures that inhabit them. My goal has always been to create images that move people, that spark curiosity and connection, and that inspire a deeper respect for the fragile beauty of our planet.
Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of publishing more than 15,000 photographs worldwide, appearing on nearly 200 magazine covers, and earning numerous awards for nature and wildlife photography. But the real reward comes from the moments in the field — waiting for perfect light, learning from the rhythms of nature, and helping others discover their own voice as photographers.
Every image I create is a celebration of light, life, and landscape — a visual testament to the power of wild places and the stories they tell. Whether I’m photographing a grizzly bear in Yellowstone or teaching a student to capture their first sunrise over the Tetons, my mission remains the same: to honor nature through art, and to help others see the world with greater wonder.
