Grand Teton National Park has perhaps the most spectacular mountain scenery in the lower 48. The dramatic Teton ranges rises over 7000’ from the valley floor in a distance of a few miles. This is a young rugged mountain range that’s very photogenic. Timed to hit the peak of the fall colors the valleys filled with colorful cottonwoods and the hillsides covered with golden aspens makes this a landscape photographers paradise. Wildlife opportunities will be excellent in the Tetons as well. Moose and elk will be in the rut and be very visible. The bugling of the bull elk will serenade us during our time in the park. Bison, antelope, coyotes, and perhaps even grizzly and black bears may be seen and photographed.

Yellowstone is one of the great wildlife destinations of the world. We’ll be there during the prime time to see much of it. No where else in North America can you witness, with such consistency, wolves and grizzly bear roaming free in their native habitats. During the time of this tour the wolves will be following age old instincts and hunting elk. Grizzly bears will be feeding constantly preparing for winter hibernation. Depending on the available food sources visibility of the bear should be excellent. Having spent many years photographing within the park and now living just outside the east gate we spend a tremendous amount of time in Yellowstone and know the prime locations to witness this behavior.

What to Bring

Equipment: We recommend a minimum of 300mm telephoto lens for this tour in addition to a variety of wide angle lenses and a mid range zoom lens. Digital shooters will want to bring along a couple of flash cards and a means to download images when cards get full. We always suggest you bring along 2 camera bodies if possible in case of equipment failure. A sturdy tripod and a good ballhead are strongly encouraged.
Clothing: Clothing should be comfortable and adequately cover a full range of weather conditions and temperatures. Expect everything from warm and sunny temperatures into the 60's to very cool and rainy; possibly snow especially in some of the higher elevations we will be working. In the mornings temperatures will likely be in the 30's so we recommend layering clothing, a warm hat and even a light pair of gloves would be advised. A sturdy yet light weight, comfortable and maybe waterproof hiking boot is suggested.

The cost of this tour includes 8 nights lodging (double occupancy), field transportation, orientation dinner, and lunch daily. Single supplement for this tour is $275.
